Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting Associate
Location: Pinebrook & Paterson, NJ (Hybrid: 2–3 days onsite per week)
Company: NECM & IPCO (Global Industrial Manufacturing Group, $50M+ operation)
About the Role
NECM & IPCO is seeking a highly skilled and entrepreneurial Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting Associate, to join our dynamic finance team. This is a hands-on role for a CPA with strong technical accounting expertise who thrives in an environment where they can own processes, drive improvements, and directly impact company growth.
Reporting directly to the Regional Controller, you will oversee end-to-end accounting operations, ensure accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet), and play a key role in Percentage-of-Completion (POC) revenue recognition. You will partner closely with operations, engineering, and manufacturing leaders, giving you visibility across the business while shaping scalable finance processes for the future.
We are looking for someone who is independent, detail-oriented, and innovative professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, finding solutions with limited direction, and pushing forward initiatives that strengthen the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Manage and enhance POC accounting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP & IFRS revenue recognition standards.
- Partner with the Regional Controller to streamline accounting operations, improve internal controls, and strengthen compliance.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on revenue recognition, inventory valuation, fixed assets, and other complex areas.
- Drive accuracy in project-level accounting, including cost estimates, actual costs, variance analysis, and gross margin impacts.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to improve cost transparency and profitability on projects.
- Support audit preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Help implement and optimize ERP and reporting tools (Jobscope, M3, SAP, Power BI, SQL, advanced Excel).
- Build and refine scalable accounting workflows and internal controls to support growth.
- Take ownership of day-to-day operations across AP, AR, invoicing, collections, and reconciliations, while driving continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s in accounting + CPA (required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting background strongly preferred).
- Experience in equipment/industrial manufacturing or other asset-heavy industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in POC accounting and revenue recognition.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and internal controls (SOX framework).
- Hands-on experience maintaining accounting records both in and outside of ERP systems.
- Exceptional Excel, Power BI, and SQL skills; comfortable building accounting & reporting capabilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and proven success in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP system implementations (Jobscope, M3, or SAP).
- Familiarity with payroll, T&E systems, and other finance and accounting workflows.
- Strong business acumen with ability to balance managerial and financial accounting perspectives, while maintaining strong accounting compliance to GAAP & IFRS.
